After the cargo is loaded into the ship the commanding officer will provide the mate receipt to the exporter once the port payments are done by an exporter.

Mate receipt:

After the cargo is loaded into the ship the commanding officer will provide the mate receipt to the exporter once the port payments are done by an exporter. The mate receipt contains detail about;

  1. Details of the shipper.

  2. Name of the vessel.

  3. Loading port

  4. Name of the port of destination

  5. Marks and container number.

  6. Description of package

  7. condition of cargo

  8.  Shipping bill number and date.

 

Types of Mate's Receipts:

(a) Clean Mate's Receipt:

This clean mate’s receipt is issued by the commanding officer once they sure about the goods don’t have any defect in the package.

 

 (b) Qualified Mate's Receipt: 

This Qualified mate’s receipt is issued by the commanding officer if there is any defect in the package and they are not responsible for that.
